H & R Daniel

Makers of the finest late Regency Porcelain

In the last update in the section on "Backstamps" I made reference to a wonderful piece that would be featured in the next update. Well here it is. A magnificent Daniel Punchbowl and stand with both pieces featuring the "Stone China Chinese Scenery backstamp". The stand measures 16 inches in diameter at the widest point and both pieces are beatifully decorated with a superb Chinese scene featuring figures, buildings and a Junk.

In the book, H & R Daniel 1822-1846, by Michael Berthoud plate 96, there is a similar stand featured but to my knowlege this is the first time that both parts have been photographed together.

SHREWSBURY BASKET

DANIEL EGG CUPS

Small can also be interesting, and egg cups are about as small as items of Daniel ware goes. Below are just a couple of examples of these delightful gadrooned edge items.
